History:  Unveiled at the 1966 Turin Automobile Show and decades later still considered perhaps the most elegant sportscar of the post war, 20th century period.  While beautiful, its technical specifications were already obsolete on arrival as rivals like Ferrari and Lamborghini had already switched from live rear axle, leaf spring suspension, to all independent arrangements, both front and rear. An equally beautiful convertible with optional hardtop was introduced in 1969. The first series Ghibli 4.7 litre was superseded by the 4.9 litre SS version in 1970.
