History: The Islero was introduced at the 1968 Geneva show alongside the Espada which stole all the attention due to its outrageous styling. The Islero was designed by Mario Marazzi, the son of Carlo Marazzi, an old employee of Touring which had recently gone out of business. The car was in the most part a rebody of the original Touring bodied 350 GT/400GT/400GTS series chassis but with a widened track to allow for larger tires.
After just 1 year, the Islero was redesigned for 1969 and rebadged the “Islero S”. The redesign incorporated many improvements: a horsepower increase (340 to 350 bhp), the addition of air outlets that were built into the sides of the front fenders, enlarged hood scoop, enlarged fender flares, round side marker lights (replaced the original teardrop design), tinted windows, the addition of fixed quarter windows in the doors, larger disc brakes, revised rear suspension, and revamped dashboard and interior.
Of all the early Lamborghini designs, the Islero was by far the most conservative and was a particular favorite of Ferruccio Lamborghini who drove one as his daily driver, as did his brother Edmondo.
